welcome to the machine you crazy diamond

My (new) theme is the bare nakedness of human nature and the slow but inevitable descent to corruption. I did not use just one medium to show this but experimented with a large variety of types like pencil, acrylic, and collages. The motifs used combine with recognizable imagery like buildings, hands, and trees to show symbolism throughout all the art pieces. The use of strong shapes also adds to bring attention to these symbols but also with all the works together it can be seen the strong juxtaposition between them to bring out the descent into corruption.
To start with would be my acrylic painting of the infant. this piece is pretty surreal in its nature with the almost random images smashed together. It's a good piece to start with as it really symbolizes the innocence and purity all human beings are born with; a content dreamlike state. This dream like painting is suppose to be symbolic of the youthful ignorance children hold to the corruption and utter dismay of the real world around them.
Next would be my pencil sketch of a man who's slowly breaking down. first he obviously has his skin on his face and all but then on the side of his chest you only see the complex muscles that make up his neck and chest, then on the opposing side you see the bones that make up his body. this clear juxtaposition here shows how naked we really all are deep inside past the beauty and the break down of it all. Nothing is permanent and neither is our innocence as we just break down more and more over time as seen here.
My last painting would be the collage. I tried to use the face of an older aging man to show how he's torn apart and buried under the weight of reality and the corruption. The colors here show the desperation and bleakness of it all at the end of his life. The imagery of the towers and sky scrapers is not only a fallic symbol but also is there to show how human beings become so corrupted; it's because of our society and our growing dependency on technology that destroys us for who we are.
In conclusion, each piece of art is not only my theme but a part of my theme each aligning to show the big picture of it all and the slow but steady time line that all people face due to corruption.
